4th Edition Spelling Power
This famous, award-winning spelling program by Beverly L. Adams-Gordon, teaches
solid back-to-basic spelling, dictionary, and proofreading skills. Since 1994, Spelling Power has
given home educators the perfect way to teach comprehensive spelling
skills to their whole family.
Your students will use
this research proven program to master the 5,000 most frequently used
words. These words are divided into 11 levels based on their usage. Each
level of Spelling Powers unique word list is then further
organized by phonetic principles and spelling rules.
Additional words that
your students needs to master are taken from your students own writing
errors and added to your Spelling Power program using the provided
resources. Your students continue to study each of these words until they
have spelled them correctly at least once. Then Spelling Powers spiral
curriculum approach of repeated, spaced review assures your students will
master every word they study. And your students will master them! Spelling
Powers six levels of built-in review guarantees that every word
taught will be mastered.
Multi-sensory study
steps, inductive learning activities, interesting skill-building
activities and games, and the incorporation of spelling into the rest of
your curriculum are integral aspects of Adams-Gordons Spelling Power
program. Everything you need to teach each of your students spelling
skills to the college level is contained in this one easy-to-use,
step-by-step curriculum package. Youll even find everything you need to
know to teach them proofreading and dictionary skills.
Spelling Power comes
with online-based electronic resources that provide a wealth of printable
skill-building activities, teaching aids, printable test forms and more.
Youll love how the Searchable Word List allows you to add
words misspelled in daily writing to your student's study words.
Even if you are new to
teaching, you will find that Spelling Powers
easy-to-understand Quick Start Steps and Quick Start DVD
Seminar will help you give each of your students Spelling Power in
just 15 minutes per day!
Canadian/British
spellings are included in both the
Flow-Word-Lists and the Searchable Word List to make it easier for
non-American spellers to use. These alternate spellings appear in brackets
behind the American spellings in the Flow-Word Lists (for example: color [colour]).
In the Searchable List, the words appear in the correct alphabetical
sequence, with a reference to the alternate spelling. This allows individual teachers to decide
which spelling convention to teach.
For one low price you
get the Spelling Power teachers manual, the online electronic resources, and
the Quick Start DVD Seminar. This one
curriculum package is all you need to meet your entire familys spelling
instructional needs for a lifetime. Dont be fooled by imitators your
family deserves the original "Big Orange" Spelling Power
program written for home educators by a home educator.

About the author:
Beverly L. Adams-Gordon is a veteran home educator with a passion for helping parents successfully educate their children. She has actively served the home education community for over 28 years. She and her husband John began their home school journey in January of 1987 after removing their oldest daughter from the local public junior high school. This was the first year home schooling was legal in Washington State.
Shortly after beginning teaching their daughters own at home, the Gordons realized there was a real need for local and inexpensive home school resources. In August of 1987, the Gordons opened Family Educational Resources in their double-car garage. The home-based store was one of the first stores in the United States to offer new and used curriculum to home educators and small private schools.
Their oldest daughters both graduated home school, high school in 1992 and 1994. Both went on to higher education and successful careers. The Gordons’ youngest daughter was home educated from birth through her high School graduation in 2012 and is currently a senior at the Washington State University School of Music.
In addition to home schooling, Adams-Gordon has eight years classroom teaching experience at various grade levels from preschool through high school. She is a certified Montessori teacher and endorsed to teach high school level Math, Science, English and History. She has done extensive research in the areas of multi-sensory methods and learning disabilities. She is an active member of the International Dyslexia Association (Washington Branch). She also spent many years working as a home school supervisory teacher, home education consultant, and an administrator of achievement tests and non-test assessments.
Adams-Gordon has written 13 books and over 500 magazine articles on educational topics. She is a popular speaker throughout the United States and Canada at home education conferences, literacy conventions, teacher in-service training programs and on-line seminar/workshops.
