Eighty Years in the Changing West is the story of Elgin ì V. Kuykendall (1870-1958). Born in Oakland, his family relocated ì to Central Washington State when he was a young child. The ì Kuykendall family moved to Pomeroy in Garfield County, ì Washington, when he was a 12, to join his grandparents.

This is a fascinating, personal story of Pomeroy and the ì surrounding territory for the last decades of the 19th Century ì and the first half of the 20th. Judge Kuykendall served in ì Pomeroy as a teacher, mayor, politician, lawyer, judge. He served ì as a justice on the state Supreme Court for 25 years.

The book includes a section on a trip to Hawaii he and his ì wife took in 1950 after his retirement.

Originally typewritten, duplicated, and distributed in the ì early 1950s to friends and family by the author, this edition has ì been completely re-typeset. It is 176 pages, comb-bound.
